Anthony “Tony” Bongiorno, 90, of Endicott, NY, passed away peacefully in his hometown. Born and raised in Endicott, Tony spent his life rooted in the community he loved.
A master plaster mason by trade, Tony was well known for his exceptional craftsmanship and the intricate, artful designs of decorative ceilings and plastered walls. His work can be found in countless homes and buildings throughout the area—each project a testament to his dedication and pride in his work.
Tony was predeceased by his first wife, Rita, his second wife, Joan; his beloved son, Joseph; his parents, Dorotea and Joseph; and his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Darlene, and her husband, Ernie Fabrizio; his grandson, Ryan Fabrizio and wife Kristen; his granddaughter, Lea Hamila and husband Robert; and his cherished great-grandchildren: Carter, Hudson, and Avery Fabrizio, and Joseph and Emma Hamila. He also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tony had a lifelong passion for cars and took great pride in keeping them spotless—always clean, always shiny. He was a familiar face at his favorite local spots, enjoying daily visits and conversations with his friends at McDonald’s and Burger King. Known for his sharp sense of humor, kindness, and generosity, Tony brought warmth and laughter wherever he went, always ready with a joke and his unique creation of new words.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am, Wednesday, August 6 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 300 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Wednesday, August 6 from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am.
