Anthony “Tony” Roma

Anthony F. Roma passed away peacefully on September 1, 2018 at Mercy House with his adoring family nearby. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary (Burti) and their children, Christopher and Maria. Also surviving are Anthony’s children Barry (Lori) Roma; Loretta (Richard) Nusman; Anita (Karl) Love; Anthony (Kathy) Roma and their mother Joan B. Roma. Anthony was fiercely loyal to his large family including grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins for whom his love knew no bounds. He was predeceased by his parents Felix and Esther, brother Eugene, son Larry, and daughter Susan. Born September 14, 1931, Anthony devoted his life to honoring his heritage including his Italian roots, Roman Catholic faith, and the Bakery profession. Along with his father and brother, Anthony was a driving force behind the growth of the Felix Roma and Sons Bakery in Endicott. He took great pride in seeing the loaves of Italian bread adorned with the family name on grocery shelves throughout the community. His ingenuity, dedication to hard work and self-confidence were the hallmark of a life spent quietly behind the scenes. He always seemed to know just the right tweak to fix a problem or make a recipe uniquely perfect. Anthony displayed great love for family pets especially his little Bella. The family wishes to thank Mercy House; Lourdes Hospice; and Evelyn, Dora and Toni his caregivers at home.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Burial will follow immediately at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Friday from 5-8 pm. Donation’s in Anthony’s memory in lieu of flowers may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
