There is a word for a man who puts family above all else. That word is Dad.
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father and Nonno, Antonio DeVincentis who was surrounded by his loving family and fought bravely up until he took his last breath. He left us in a sea of tears on April 10, 2026 at the age of 84. His beautiful life was defined by love, hard work and his immense dedication to his family.
Antonio was predeceased by his loving parents, Giuseppe and Angela DeVincentis; his paternal grandparents, Florindo Antonio and Maria Nicola DeVincentis; his maternal grandparents Antonio and Maria Domenica Soldato; and his in-laws, Saverio and Antoinette Noce. He was also predeceased by his beloved sisters, Maria and Nellina, who tragically passed away as young children--he never forgot them and always held a special place in his heart for them. He is further predeceased by his beloved brother-in-law Frank Romanelli.
Antonio is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Celia, who was the love of his life. He is also survived by his devoted children, Joseph and Lisa, and Domenica and Felix; and his cherished grandchildren, Antonio, Isabella, Alessandra and Natalia, who were his most treasured blessings. He is further survived by his beloved sister-in-law Barbara Romanelli, and her family; his sisters, Maria Bocek and Nellina (Mark) Dellapenna, and their families; his special cousins Emilio and Suava DeNardis; and many dear friends.
Antonio was born in Vacri, Italy, in 1941. Along with his parents and grandparents, he endured the devastation of World War II. Over the years, he shared many stories with his family about the pain and suffering caused by the war, revealing tragic experiences that are difficult to imagine today. Yet, he often said those hardships strengthened his resolve and fueled his determination to immigrate to the United States of America and build a better life for his family.
In September 1956, at just fourteen years old, Antonio immigrated to America. After arriving, he continued his education while working and learning such trades as plumbing. He eventually began his first career as a tailor at Sall-Stearns in Binghamton, applying the skills he had learned as a young boy in Italy. He loved his time as a tailor but always longed for something more.
His mother, Angela, instilled in him the belief that her son should always have more than one job, so in 1969, together with his father, Giuseppe, he founded G. DeVincentis & Son Construction Company. Through dedication and hard work, his company has continued to operate successfully to this day, with his life's work and legacy now carried on by his son. The local communities he helped build through his construction company stand as a testament to his vision, determination, and steadfast work ethic. Antonio was a titan of his industry and will never be forgotten.
Above all, the family he built was his most cherished creation. He instilled in them the enduring values of honesty, hard work and loyalty. He lived his life with unwavering integrity and when he gave his word, it was done.
His greatest pleasures aside from spending time with his family, were his annual family trips to Ocean City, Maryland, and his yearly vacations he shared together with Celia at the beautiful home he built in Vacri, Italy as a lasting remembrance of him for his beloved family.
Caro papa, you are finally able to rest in peace. Although our hearts are forever broken, we find solace knowing that heaven has gained its bravest angel, who will now watch over us forever.
