Arthur P. Coe, 86, of Vestal, NY died peacefully at his home on Friday, November 16, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur R. Coe and Marie Powers Coe, his loving wife of 38 years Sandra B. Coe, several cousins including recently deceased Charles Coe, and grandson Jeffrey T. Dorworth who lost his battle to cancer just 3 days before Arthur passed away. Arthur is survived by his two loving daughters and their spouses, Linda Coe (Thomas Dorworth), Frederick, MD and Diane Coe (Mary Kaye Burczak), Endicott, NY, Grandson Gregory R. Dorworth, Frederick, MD, Sister and Brother-in-Law Lelia and Rod Shatto, San Jose, CA and their children and families in San Jose, CA. Art was blessed to have many dear friends and companions who he treasured. He was a graduate of Harpur College with a degree in Accounting. He worked as an accountant at Security Mutual and Hinman, Howard, & Kattell. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was an American Legion member. Art was a member of the Holy Nativity Lutheran Church and served as an Usher and Assisting Minister. Art enjoyed playing tennis and pickleball, walking and he had a deep passion for riding bikes. He participated in the Ride for Roswell multiple times to raise money for Roswell Park Cancer Institute where he received treatment. He was a dedicated volunteer at Lourdes Hospital, Broome County Council of Churches, and the Faith in Action program where he was honored as the Caregiver of the Year in 2003. Art passed on his love of music to his daughters and he proudly attended Linda and Diane’s concerts whenever possible. He especially loved Jazz and Classical music and shared a common admiration of Opera with his beloved Doctor, David Zander, recently deceased. He was a talented artist and photographer. He and his wife Sandy loved creating original stained glass pieces for many years. He loved watching Sports and was an avid Binghamton University Bearcats basketball fan. At Harpur College he played on the Tennis Team. He was a faithful NY Mets fan. Art loved to cook, entertain, and relax with friends and family. He loved to travel; especially to Nantucket. His family visit to San Jose in 2017 filled him with precious family time and memories with his sister’s family. The family wants to express their gratitude for the tremendous and amazing care that he received from Dr. John Miller, Dr. Jonathan Kloss, and Dr. Shabana Jamil and their staff. Mutual caring relationships existed between Art, his family, and the medical teams who treated him over the past 19 years.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 10 am at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church, 312 East Main Street, Endicott. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Monday evening from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, a college fund has been established for the children of Jeffrey Dorworth (Grandson).
