Bettie Faye Carter Diorio, 78 of Apalachin, passed away peacefully at her residence Sunday, December 21, 2025.
She was predeceased by her father, Raymond Carter, mother, Hazel Pritchard Carter, brothers, Roy and James Carter, niece, Anna VanWinkle, and beloved husband of 40 years, Richard Diorio Sr.
Bettie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family; daughters Sarah Diorio, Knoxville, TN, Michele (Christopher) Bennett, Apalachin; a son Richard Diorio Jr, Vestal; grandchildren Anthony and Hailey Diorio and Nathan, Madelyn, and
Emily Bennett; her sisters, Gaylon Wheeler and Lannie Cage, of Woodville, MS and Virginia Hudgens, Natchez, MS; sisters in law Joanne Diorio, Endicott and MaryLynne (Karl) Lubinger,
Constantia; nieces and nephews Paul and Paulette Carter; Jolene Toole; John, Rosie, and Paul Diorio; and John and Dan Kermidas; and several cousins.
She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Site of Blessed Trinity Parish, Apalachin.
Bettie was a loyal employee of Wilson Memorial Hospital for over 20 years and proudly served in the U.S. Army. Born in Woodville, Mississippi, she carried her Southern warmth and kindness with her throughout her life. She will be remembered for her sweet and caring nature, her gentle heart, and her deep love for her family. Bettie was a wonderful homemaker and had a special fondness for bunnies, a reflection of her soft spirit and tender soul. She was also an avid Ole Miss and New York Yankees fan. Her presence was comforting, her love unconditional, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is now at peace, reunited with her beloved husband, and resting in the loving arms of the Lord.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 29 at St. Margaret Mary's Church, 1110 Pennsylvania Avenue, Apalachin. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Sunday, December 28, from 1-3 pm.
