Betty Huston Forman, 89, of Endwell, NY passed away on Monday, July 22nd, 2013. Predeceased by her husband Dr. John W. Forman, her parents Harry Edwin Huston and Lena (Black) Huston and sister (Hazel) Ruth Howard. Survived by children David Forman of Endicott, Elizabeth Forman (Scott Bolens) of Whitefish Bay WI, and Matthew (Susan) Forman of Brentwood MO; grandchildren Tyler and Brandon Beagle, Jeremy and Natalie Forman. Further survived by her brother (Harry) Edwin Huston Jr of Palm Desert, CA. Betty served as elder and deacon during nearly 60 years of membership with the First Presbyterian Church of Endicott. She was very proud of her affiliation with the Monday Afternoon Club, and during her term as president she spearheaded efforts to begin renovation of the historic Phelps Mansion. Betty was a founding member of the Home Economists in Homemaking (HEIH) group, and a member of the Broome County Historical Society, the Old Village of Union Historical Society, Antiques Society, and the PEO Sisterhood. Born in Tecumseh Nebraska, Betty graduated from high school in Lincoln Nebraska and earned her Bachelors degree in Home Economics, Clothing & Textiles from University of Nebraska where she was editor of the Daily Nebraskan newspaper and a member of Mortar Board. She had an early career working with JCPenney and Edna Bryte Bishop, teaching the Bishop Method of clothing construction prior to her marriage. In the 1970’s Betty hosted her own sewing television show ‘Stitch Along’ on Binghamton’s WKSG TV.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 11 am from First Presbyterian Church, 29 Grant Avenue, Endicott, with the Reverend Jan Devine and the Reverend Tim Devine officiating. Interment will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Thursday from 5 to 8 pm and Friday at First Presbyterian Church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Phelps Mansion Museum, 191 Court Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
