Bradley “Brad” C. Main peacefully passed away at home 14 November 2025.
Brad was born 28 August 1948, in Johnson City, New York. He was the son of the late Richard H. Main and Jean D. (nee Lawton) Main.
Brad was a graduate (1967) from the Vestal High School. Throughout High School Brad was a Vestal “Golden Bear” Junior Varsity and then Varsity Football Player along with Track and Field. Shortly after graduation from high school, Brad Enlisted and served in the US Navy durning the Vietnam War; stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63), as an Airman (AN, E-3).
After returning home from Service, expanding his young family, Brad enjoyed playing semi-pro football for the TC Jets. In addition, for his love of sports, Brad also enjoyed the great outdoors; he enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks (especially in the Long Lake region, and on Lake Eaton), fishing (to include smelt fishing in the Finger Lake region and deep-sea fishing when he both lived in Florida or would visit family still living in Florida) and he absolutely loved hunting. In addition to sharing these passions with his family, Brad also enjoyed going to various hunting camps for deer and bear with his lifelong friends over a great number of years (sadly, a number of these friends also preceded Brad in death). In the winter time, this was no slow-down for Brad, again with his family and lifelong friends, he enjoyed snowmobiling (in his younger years he was an avid snowmobiling racer). In the 1970s and 1980s you would also find Brad, his family and friends going down some of Binghamton’s rivers in the annual YaGotta Regatta. If he wasn’t marching in a parade as a Veteran, you could find Brad marching as a member of Broome County Celtic Kazoo Band. Or, you would always find Brad rooting for his favorite football team, the Miami Dolphins. Throughout Brad’s life, he always had great love for his pets, both dogs and cats.
Brad was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia L. "Cindy" (nee Dimick) Main (d. 2021), his former wife Esther M. “Cookie” (nee Woodford) Main (d. 2025), his sisters (and brothers-in-law) Pamala J. (nee Main) Howlett (Edson R. Howlett III), and Vickie L. (nee Main) Kondras (Peter R. Kondras). Also, his brother-in-law, Bruce L. Dimick.
Surviving Brad are his son, Brian K. Main (Eddie J. Sammons) of Kentucky, daughters Niccole L. (nee Main) Chisolm of New York, Heather M. Main (Cecilia Magee) of New York, Kim (nee Struppler) Larson of Colorado, and Marie (nee Struppler) Hawk (Jason Hawk) of Colorado. His surviving grandchildren are Taylor Chisolm of New York, Dylon Chisolm of Kentucky, Jaden Main of New York, Kiya Lewis of New York, Brynn Hawk, and Bristol Hawk, both of Colorado. His surviving nephew and nieces are Edson “Teddy” Howlett IV, Erika Howlett, Jenneh Howlett, and Valerie Howlett all of Florida. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by a number of great-grandchildren, great-grand nieces & nephews, and several cousins. Brad had great love for his large extended family and friends, he will deeply be missed by all.
