David P. Griffiths, 94, of Endicott NY passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 12, 2026, at UHS Senior Living at Ideal. David was born on August 1, 1931 to Salina and Samuel Griffiths in Philadelphia PA and later moved to Jermyn PA. He graduated from Jermyn High School in 1949. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and US Air Force during the Korean war. He met his loving wife Anita at the Pocono Mountain Resort where they both worked, attended Penn State extension school, moved to Endicott NY and worked for IBM for 31 years being a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was preceded in death by Anita, married 51 years, (died 2007) and loving son David who passed away at age 19.
He is survived by daughter Debbie and son-in-law John Attinella, Rochester MN; son Steven and daughter-in-law Shelly, Canton OH. Also survived by his five grandchildren Kristina Halama (Benj), Danielle Attinella (Onar Attinella-Alili), Abby Smelko (Nick), Tim Griffiths (Becca) and Amy Griffiths (fiancé Jake) plus five great-grandchildren – Emily, Alex, Evren, Finn and Benji who he deeply loved and adored.
He was predeceased by sister Evelyn Galavitz, his beloved brother William Mayne, his hero, who was killed in action in WWII, and sister Betty Jane Dean. He is also survived by sister-in-law Ann Monacelli, Old Forge PA; brother-in-law Robert Monacelli and wife Nancy, Rome NY and also many nieces and nephews.
Dave had a great sense of humor, was very witty and loved to sing. He enjoyed playing golf and gardening. He was a member of Wesley Methodist church where he was Chairman of the Board and in charge of the ushers for many years.
Memorial services will be Saturday, February 7 at Allen Memorial Home Endicott NY. At Dave’s request, visitation for friends and family will be from 9-10 followed by a memorial service and interment immediately at Calvary Cemetery Johnson City.
