We mourn the loss of our 95-year-old dad, Donald Richard Lainhart, of Endwell, NY, on July 22, 2026. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Cecile Louise; his father, Claude Merle and his brother, William Morris. He is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Marjorie; his daughter Diane (Richard) Long; his son, Carey; his much-loved grandsons, Dylan, Brendan (Katie) and Hayden; and great granddaughter Peggy.
Don served as a supply sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War. A self-made man from very humble beginnings, he became a successful businessman and was the owner of Hart Electronics in Vestal. Don was also a gourmet cook with a love of French food and wine, and he previously served as the president of the local chapter of the Wine and Food Society. Additionally, he was a snappy dresser with a taste for fine menswear and owned a fantastic collection of clothing. Most of all, he was a wonderful father and grandfather, and we were all so lucky to have had him in our lives for such a long time.
Our thanks to the Guthrie Lourdes Hospital Ross 3 staff and Dr. Raju and Dr. Annam.
We especially thank the staff of Good Shepherd Village at Endwell for their incredible help in arranging for dad to be transferred to their facility to say goodbye to mom.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in memory of Don to the Town of Union Emergency Squad, Inc., 8 S. Avenue B, Endwell, NY 13760 (unionems.com), or the charity of one’s choice.
