Donna Rae Glover

On Saturday, August 29 Donna Rae Glover 92 peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon N. Glover as well as her parents Bill and Gladys Ketchum. She is survived by her son Martin (Laura) Glover, daughter Pamela (Jon) Black, and son Raymond (Michelle) Glover. She is survived by her four grandchildren Matt (Chrystine) Black, Amanda (Casey) Pullano, Bradly (Courtney) Glover, Brittney (Josh) Szczepanski and her seven great grandchildren Lily, Aubrey, Ruby, Beatrice, Priscilla, Nikita and Jesse. She is also survived by her sister Glenda (Al) Seliga and many nieces and nephews.

Donna grew up in Endicott NY and later moved to their family farm in Newark Valley NY. She graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1952 and was part of the concert band and football band playing the saxophone. Donna got hired at IBM in 1955 where she worked as a keypunch operator and where she also met the love of her life, Gordon.

Donna was an active longtime member of the Union Center Methodist Church. She was very involved in the adult choir, started the children’s cherub choir and served as a Sunday school teacher along with her husband. She created a song containing the books of the Bible so the children in the Sunday school class could easily learn those books. To this day any person that was in that class remembers that song. She absolutely loved to sing and played the organ and/or the guitar. She would sing solos in church, or at church events, was in church skits with other ladies, or would sing duets with her daughter.

Donna loved to sew, making several of her daughter’s dresses when she was a little girl and shirts for her husband and sons. She also sewed several quilts, potholders, and dresses for young, orphaned girls in disadvantaged countries. Along with sewing she also loved to cook delicious meals for the family, make homemade bread, berry pies or cobblers and cookies.

Summers were especially important to her as she and her children would spend time up at their vacation home in the Thousand Islands which they built using wood from the farm and cut on their sawmill. Her favorite memories included playing card games, fishing, swimming or going for boat rides to their special island and having picnics.

Donna and her entire immediate family, including her parents, enjoyed downhill skiing and continued to ski into her late 80’s. She enjoyed many outdoor activities including snowshoeing and hunting during the winter and driving her motorcycle, tractor and side-by-side during the summer.

Donna enjoyed living in Germany when Gordon had a two-year assignment with IBM. They traveled to almost every country in Europe. While there, she made several good friends who she corresponded with throughout the remainder of her life.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and great appreciation to the staff of the Ideal Senior Living Center – Rose Court for their excellent and compassionate care provided to Donna during her time there.

Donna had an infectious smile, loved to laugh and enjoyed sharing her Christian values with others. She will be greatly missed by her family, her church friends and anyone who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Union Center Methodist Church, Tuesday September 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The family will have a private burial.
