Dora Bimmler

Dora A. Bimmler, 90, of Vestal, died on August 29th at Willow Point Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Harold Louis Bimmler (Lou), her third son and fifth child of six Mark E. Bimmler (Erin), her parents Clifton and Elizabeth (Gaul) Peters; brothers Donald, Robert, Clifton, and Ted; and numerous aunts and uncles. Dora is survived by her five other children Richard (Sandra) Bimmler, Karen (Roy) Nixon, Sharen (David) Yood, Robert (Michelle) Bimmler, Kristen (Walter) Kintner, and special daughter in law, Erin; grandchildren Kerri (Chris) Wenzel, Greg (Amie) Bimmler, Kelcie (Torrey) Guccia, Mike Nixon, Elizabeth (Greg Gallant) Nixon, Kacie (Nathan) Kratzert, Kellie Yood, Kimberly (Kyle) Kenyon, Lauren Bimmler, Sean Bimmler, Jason Bimmler, Walter Kintner, Meaghan (Eric) Cady, Karly Kintner, Max Kintner; and great grandchildren Tyler Wenzel, Colin Wenzel, Emily Wenzel, Dillan Terry, Spencer Terry, Arabella Guccia, Cadence Kratzert, Cameron Kratzert, Colton Kratzert, Caleb Yood, Brooke Cady, and Wyatt Cady. Dora was a lifelong resident of the Union Endicott and Vestal area and also spent time in Marietta Georgia. She is best remembered for the passion she shared with her husband for dancing, and for the many years they spent as members of the Shirts and Skirts, Cir-Q-Laters, and Shufflin Shoes, dance clubs. The clubs often put on shows and exhibitions sponsored by and in support of other community activities. Dora was a person of strong will - a bold, intelligent, and sometimes feisty gal who loved to engage in spirited debates - especially if they were political in nature. She was an independent thinker who never failed to speak her mind and had an inner strength that carried her through hard times. Dora and Lou built their first house together in Castle Gardens in 1954. The entire family was raised there, thrived there for 50 years. Dora hugged Lou as he took his last breath in that house. But the homestead did not survive the flood of 2006. Mom lost all of her possessions including most of the photographic history of the family. Then, as now, and always, she picked herself up, and moved on to new adventures. Heaven is filled with little pink candies, and Lou, and Mark. Godspeed mom.
Calling hours will be held at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott on Saturday September 8th, from 2 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations made to your favorite charity.
