Edward J "Big Ed" Williams, 83, of Endicott, NY and Bonita Springs, FL passed away unexpectedly at Physicians Regional-Pine Ridge Hospital in Naples, FL on April 1, 2026.

Born in Binghamton, NY on April 1, 1943, Edward graduated from Chenango Valley High School in 1961. After graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL for 4 years. Ed joined IBM Endicott, NY in 1966 and retired in 1999 with 33 years of service. During that time, he received an A.A.S. degree from SUNY Broome (Broome Tech), Binghamton, NY in Business.

Ed was an avid golfer for over 50 years. He loved reading books and watching golf, baseball and football. He was a lifelong Detroit Tiger baseball fan. Ed also had a great interest in gardening and became an authority on growing garlic. Friends and family would come to him for garlic growing advice. He also became very well known within his circle of family and friends for his ability to make a good Manhattan!

He and his wife Sharon led a life that included skiing, sailing and traveling the world. Later in life they wintered in Bonita Springs, FL. Most of all, though, Ed loved spending time with his nieces

and nephews, godchildren and extended family. That’s when he became “Big Ed” as there was already a “Little Ed” in the family (his brother-in-law). He loved young people and could relate to any of them. His witty sense of humor made him well loved by everyone that knew him. He will be dearly missed.

Ed was predeceased by his parents Charles J Williams and Edna {Palmer) Williams and brother Charles A Williams.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sharon (Boezi) Williams, nieces and nephews, Deborah (Randall) DeGenova, Cheri (Wayne) Carlson, Wendy (Gary) Funk, Mark (Krista) Boezi and special godchildren Matthew Spencer and Kelly Totman along with many cousins, extended family and good friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, 11 am, Friday, May 29, at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at church, Friday, May 29, from 10 am, until Mass time at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
