Eleanor Hastings

Eleanor K Hastings, resident of Hilltop Retirement Home, Johnson City, NY passed away on Sunday February 18, 2018 with her husband of 48 years at her side. Born in Syracuse, NY May 21, 1927(a date that remained secret until just the past couple of years). Predeceased by; Parents, Paul and Gertrude Keebler, Beloved Aunt Laura Lynch, cousin Robert Lynch, brother-in- laws, John (Jack), Matthew and his wife Katie, sister-in-law, Marie and her husband Gerald Shaughnessy. She is survived by her husband, Paul J. Hastings; her brother, Reverend Paul Keebler, brother-in-law Robert and his wife, Eleanor, sister-in-law Gloria Hastings; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who she always made feel loved like her own. Eleanor graduated from Nottingham High School and Powelson Business School, Syracuse, NY. She worked for Quaker Oats Co. and Crucible Steel Co, both in Syracuse. She and Paul enjoyed their weekend trips to many establishments, too many to mention here, catching up with friends at each stop. She was very proud of the 35 years she spent providing Pastoral Care at an Endicott Nursing home; and 17 years as Eucharistic Minister at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She loved dogs and horses and played golf regularly until well into her later years. She was also well known for her unique sense of fashion; especially her shoes.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday 11 am at Church of the Holy Family Endwell. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Little Meadows, Pa at the convenience of her family. The family will receive friends at Church of the Holy Family Thursday 10 am until mass at 11 am. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, or Church of the Holy Family.
