Elizabeth “Betty”, “Aunt B” McDonald, age 101, passed away peacefully at Willow Point Nursing Home on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Born on May 3, 1924 in Sherrill, New York, she lived a long and remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to those around her.
Betty dedicated 37 years of her professional life to IBM Corporation, where she built a successful career during a time when few women held such a position. Her work ethic and determination not only paved the way for her own accomplishments but also inspired and encouraged many others to follow their dreams. She was a trailblazer in every sense of the word an example of strength and perseverance who left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Betty will be remembered for the joy she brought into everyday life. She had a deep love for socializing and could often be found antiquing or exploring garage sales with family and friends. She delighted in cooking and dining out, cherished time reading and found peace at the beach – one of her favorite places. Though she often claimed not to indulge in sweets, those close to her fondly recall catching her enjoying them more than once.
Her generosity knew no bounds. Whether through kind words or thoughtful gestures, Betty gave freely of herself to family, friends, and even strangers. Her spirit was one of warmth and inclusion; she made everyone feel like family.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved mother Nellie McDonald, sisters Myrt Fritts and Helen VanOrder; brothers Francis McDonald and Ted McDonald. Though they have gone before her, their memories remained close to Betty’s heart throughout her life. Aunt B leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, extended family members and many special friends who love her very much.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to her loving care team of angels at Willow Point Nursing Home, North 2 staff. Your love, compassion and dedication meant the world to Betty and her family. Thank you for loving and caring for her like she was your own.
