Ellen J Mack (formerly Hayes & Calvert) of Johnson City, NY passed away on May 1, 2026 in Endicott, NY.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Hayes and husband Victor Mack, her parents Harold and Ellen Calvert, her brother and his wife Richard and Waneta Calvert, her sons Charlie Hayes and Marty Hayes.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley Stout, Lisle, NY; Ken and Michelle Hayes, Waterville, Ohio; daughter-in-law Diana Hayes, Rutland, VT; her brother Thomas and Cheryl Calvert, Ridgeville, SC; and her sister Barbara Beckham, Bedford, TX. She also left behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Ellen was known for caring for her husband, Larry and four children, as well as working at IBM. Post retirement she earned a Master’s degree at Binghamton University. She enjoyed international and domestic travel. During this time, she also met her second husband, Victor. Ellen was active in many local clubs and volunteering endeavors such as Sertoma, the Red Hat Society, and the Widows and Widowers club. She was also very involved at the Broad Ave. Presbyterian church. Ellen enjoyed sewing, knitting and baking and she often shared her treasures with family, friends and others. She was an avid reader and valued education and staying abreast of current news and events.
The family would like to express our thanks to the staff at Ideal Living Center for the wonderful care she received while in their facility.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St, Endicott, NY. The family will receive visitors from 12 to 1 pm immediately prior to the memorial service. Burial will follow at Maine Cemetery.
