Elvira Clemente, 89, of Endicott passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Mercy House surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Salvatore. Also predeceasing her: parents, John and Maria Pittarelli, sisters Rosemary Buttino (Luigi), Antoinette Ciotoli (Agostino), Carmelina Golden (James); brothers, Nicholas Pittarelli (Palmina), Cosmo Pittarelli (Mary).
She is survived by her children, Robert (Lori), Cathy Card (Duane), Denise Nicolette (Timothy), her grandchildren, Brian Card (Amanda), Meredith Martinsek (David), Daniel Clemente (Trisha), Thomas Clemente (Laura); “More Nana’s” great grandchildren, Cameron, Parker, Natalie and Jessica, also several nieces and nephews.
Vera’s greatest joy was her family and cooking amazing Italian meals for them. She loved gardening both vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed trips to Tioga Downs. She and Sam enjoyed spending many winters in Florida.
She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Her religion was very important to her, saying her rosary several times daily.
A special thanks to her nieces Judy Dunlop and Lisa Golden-Olbrys for always being there to help. Also, a special thank you to her hospice nurses Hannah and Brenda and to Mercy House staff for their care and compassion during her final days.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am, Thursday, May 22, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 300 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511–513 East Main Street, Endicott,, Wednesday, May 21 from 5 to 7 pm.
