Eugene H. Apker, 91, of Vestal passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday July 8, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents Allen and Clara, son Fred, great grandson Keagan. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Carrie, daughter Sharon (John) Donlin, daughter in law Mary, and sister in law Ann Springman. Grandchildren, Chris (Sonia) Apker, Michelle (Bob) Chillis, Mike (Nicki) Donlin, Steve (Danielle) Donlin, Brian (Katie) Donlin, and Jenny (Mike) Phillips. Great grandchildren Josh, Nate, Zach, and Catherine Apker; Samantha, Kiera, and Emily Chillis; Madelyn, Jack, Donovan, Will, and Clare Donlin; Connor Phillips and baby girl Phillips. Also many nieces and nephews. Gene was a veteran of World War II and worked for GAF and Anitec for 45 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Sorrows church in Vestal, NY.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 10, at 12 pm from the Allen Memorial Home. 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday from 11 am until service time at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his memory can be made to the Fred Apker scholarship fund c/o Tompkins Trust Company P.O Box 460 Ithaca, NY 14851.
