Betty (Eva Elizabeth) Welch, 100, January 16, 1924 – November 17, 2024
Betty Welch passed peacefully at her home after a long and blessed life of 100 years, 10 months and 1 day. Betty was predeceased by her husband Leo. She is survived by her children Leon (Lee & Patty) of Ocala, FL, Elaine Burt of Pompey, NY, Doug (Kathy) of Big Flats, NY and special daughter Cheryl Martin of Alpharetta, GA. Grandchildren Stephen (Rebecca) Burt, Emily Burt, Joella (Mike) Meehan, Gavin & Trevor Welch. Great-grandchildren Thomas Leo Burt, Robbie and Allie Carducci, several cousins, nieces, nephews, many friends and honorary family members.
Betty began working at the ‘A&P’ store, retired from the USPS first as a clerk and later as Postmaster in Glen Aubrey then Maine. She ended her working days as an 85 year old Hostess at Frank’s Restaurant. She was a member of the Maine Federated Church, Nanticoke Valley Historical Society, and numerous community organizations. Her passions included family, historical scrapbooking, painting local iconic wooden buildings, all things ‘merry-go-round’, Christmas, Mickey/Minnie Mouse, knitting/crocheting, writing poetry/annual letters, many crafts, and telling stories of life in Maine. Most importantly, making people smile.
Funeral Services will be held 3 pm, Friday, November 22, at Maine Federated Church, 2615 State Route 26 North, Maine, Burial will be in Maine Cemetery, Saturday, November 23, at 10 am. The family will receive friends at church Friday, November 22 from 1 pm until service time at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in her memory May be made to the Maine Emergency Squad, or Maine Federated Church.
