Gary Kochinsky

d. December 18, 2015

Gary M. Kochinsky, 64 of Endicott passed away peacefully at his home December 18, 2015,after a valiant fight against cancer that overwhelmed his body, but not his determined spirit. He was predeceased by his parents, Lois and Harry Kochinsky. Gary is survived by his loving wife Nadine; a daughter, Michelle Kochinsky; a son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Shannon Kochinsky; two sisters, Lori Frigo, Essex Jct, Vermont; Patricia and husband Steve Tagliaferro, Johnson City; a granddaughter, Alexa; also several nephews, a niece, cousins and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Gary served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany, where his dream was always to revisit and rekindle old friendships when he retired. He attended Sullivan County College and Broome College where he studied Civil Engineering. He later went on to work at Michael Baker Engineering in Pittsburgh, PA for a period of time. He then spent his remaining career at Cornell University as a Structural Engineer, where he retired from in 2012. His co-workers best knew him for his “clippin’ of the tie” parties; an end of the year celebration on campus. Gary had a great appreciation for so many things in life; his love for photography, he had a God given talent as an artist, answering the call for over 30 years as a firefighter in the West Corners Fire Department, where he also served as a Board of Commissioner, he was an avid craftsman and had a passion for designing and renovation of projects, and most recently his lifelong dream of restoring his 66’ GTO. His biggest appreciation was his family, whom he gave all he had to. He leaves behind a father’s love and a legacy of life lessons to pass on. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our family, our neighbors and our good friend Bob Seaver, for all the help and support during his illness, as well as the compassionate nurses and especially Deacon Joe, while in Hospice care.

Funeral Services will be held Monday 10 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:30 am.
