Gary B. VanNostrand, of Binghamton, New York, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at UHS Wilson Medical Center, surrounded by family. Gary was born on September 12, 1946, to parents James and Harriet VanNostrand and spent his life dedicating his time to his family, work, cooking, reading, and board stewardship.

Gary shared 53 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patty. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Peter and his wife, Daiana; his daughter Lauren and her husband, Danny; three beloved grandchildren; his sister in law, Sara VanNostrand; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was predeceased by his father, James VanNostrand; his mother, Harriet VanNostrand; his brother, James VanNostrand; his sisters, Lynne MacCarrick and Jean and Jane Stewart; and his brother in law, Robert MacCarrick.

Born in Interlaken, New York, Gary built a long and respected career as a financial advisor and retired from Merrill Lynch. His dedication to his community was reflected in his years of service as a board member of United Health Services Hospitals and the UHS Foundation, including several years as chair of the Foundation.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals at UHS Wilson Medical Center for their compassionate care in recent weeks.

The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Sunday, March 15, from 1-4 pm.
