George Harrington, cherished brother, devoted uncle, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at the age of 100. Born in Endicott, New York, on December 22, 1925, George was called to heaven after a brief battle with congestive heart failure. His passing marks the end of a century-long journey filled with love, dedication, and service to others.
The son of the late Ronald and Florence Harrington, George grew up in a loving household alongside his siblings, Wally, Ronnie, Jimmy, Roger, Iva, and his surviving sister, Betty. Though his parents and several siblings have predeceased him, George's memory lives on in the hearts of Betty and his numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends Rob & Donna who cherished his warmth and wisdom.
George's life was a testament to the virtues of courage and duty. As a young man, he answered the call to serve during World War II, enlisting in the United States Navy. As a Signalman 2nd Class aboard an LST in the Pacific Theater, he contributed to the safeguarding of freedom with unwavering resolve and bravery. Following his honorable discharge, George embarked on a successful career with IBM, where his role as a pricing negotiator took him across the globe, allowing him to touch lives far and wide. He retired in 1982, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and integrity.
A devout man, George was an active member of his local church, where he poured his heart into building and managing their clothing center for over a decade. His selfless service to the church community was a reflection of his deep faith and commitment to helping those in need. George's passion for giving was not limited to his church; it was a cornerstone of his character that resonated throughout his life.
Beyond his professional and spiritual endeavors, George was an exceptional self-taught artist. His paintings, which he lovingly shared with family, were a testament to his creative spirit and generous heart. Through his art, George found a way to communicate love and beauty, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to receive his works.
George was a man of exceptional kindness and unwavering faith. His life was a beacon of love and compassion, teaching those around him the true meaning of giving. Even in his passing, his legacy of kindness will continue to inspire those who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28th at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott from 1-3 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
