Helen Kocik, 84, of Endicott, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents John and Helen Kocik; a sister Rita Marvill and her canine companion Tuffy. She is survived by four sisters Margaret Cherevko, Endicott; Veronica (Richard) Kocik, Binghamton; Mary Ann Palazzo, Johnson City and Barbara (Bruce) Banas, Binghamton; four brothers Edward (Alice), Ft. Meyers, FL; John (Patricia), Johnson City; Joseph (Alice), Endicott and James (Kathy) Kocik, Baldwinsville, NY; also several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Church of the Holy Family, Endwell. Helen was a veteran of the US Navy and later a Captain in the US Air Force Reserves, flying Medi-Vac missions over Europe and finished her career as an administrator with the VA. She also taught at the University of Alaska and Hartwick College. Helen was an avid animal lover and an advocate for the needy and children’s causes.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 11 am at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 am. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Humane Society, 2 Jackson Street, Binghamton, NY 13903.
