Irene M. Kotchick

Irene (Lawrence) Kotchick, 95, of Vestal passed away on April 28th. She was predeceased by her parents Earl and Rose Lawrence of Johnson City, her husband Dr. John L. Kotchick, her son John L. Kotchick III and her two brothers Ed and Dick Lawrence. She is survived by her children, Karen Duffy and Kim (David) Ayres; her grandsons, Zachary Ayres and Harrison (Elizabeth) Ayres and her granddaughters, Chloe (Kyle) Kirchner and Claudia (Anthony) Panichelli, as well as the mother of her granddaughters Rita Connerton. She leaves behind two great-grandchildren- AJ and Collins. In addition, she is survived by her brother David (Jeanette) Lawrence of Conklin. She was active in Our Lady of Sorrows Church and served as chair of the annual bazaar. For over twenty years, she and her husband John co-chaired the Advance Ticket Committee for the B.C. Open, entertaining numerous pro-golfers at their home. Irene enjoyed golf, crafts, jigsaw puzzles and reading. For a number of years, she was a member of the Briarcliff Manor Garden Club. A special thanks to her devoted caretakers who allowed her to live at home and maintain a good quality of life. Thank you, Liz, Heather, Nancy, Nelly, Kathy and Michelle. We would be remiss in not remembering her devoted hair stylist and friend, Mary Palombaro. A Funeral Mass for Irene will be held at on Wednesday May 6th at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Church from 9:30 am until Mass time at 10:30.
