Jean Barbara Malarkey (McMullen), 89 passed away at UHS Wilson Memorial Hospital on Friday August 24th after a weeklong hospital stay. She was predeceased by her husband Luke Malarkey and a daughter Babbi Malarkey, her parents Richard and Blanche (Eldred) McMullen, two brothers “Smokey” and Michael McMullen, 2 sisters Shirley McMullen Woodruff (Ottie) and Judy McMullen Fussell (Michael). Jean is survived by her devoted daughter Kathy Malarkey Taylor (Fiancé Terry Blowers) with whom shared passions made for two very enjoyable lives. As well as four loved grandchildren, Troy (Krystal) Taylor, Starr-Lyte (Zach) Reid, Jessie Taylor (Dave Craig), Jenna Taylor (Meaghan Clark), three great grandchildren, Emma, Pheonix and baby boy Reid, many cherished nieces and nephews. Her beloved brother Ed McMullen and sister-in-law Jeanette. Special thanks to Barbara and Dick Dreska for all of your help over the years. Thanks to Joe, Paulette and Hillary Konsuit especially during these tough times. Jean took great pride in her role as homemaker wife and mother, her family wanted for nothing. Later in life she excelled as an antique dealer/floral arranger running her own business anyone would be hard pressed to find a kinder, more gentle or genuine person than she. Jean loved nature, wildlife and especially her kitties.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church at 10 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Wednesday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers kindly consider donating as she did to the Humane Society.
