John Cyganovich, 100 years old, of Endicott died, Monday, November 3, 2014. He was predeceased by his son Jerome Cyganovich; brothers, William and Ignace and sisters, Frances, Helen and Nellie. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Sophie and their three daughters and one son. Christine Cawley and William Casale, Endwell, Magdalyn Cyganovich, Rochester, NY, Janette and Michael Brush, Endicott, Lawrence and Diana Cyganovich, Pawling, NY and one brother, Anthony Cyganovich, sisters, Mary Tchir, Emily “Mildred” Kwiatkowski and Cassie and Ted Pastalan; brother-in-law, Ted Andrews and sister-in-laws, Mary Cyganovich, Julianna Zamoiski, Caroline Wilk and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends included the Donald Ferguson, “Doc” Broker, Sam Arcangeli and Martindale families. He was a member of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Maine where he served many years as an usher and head of the chicken barbeque team. John was a WWII veteran serving in the 182nd Combat Engineers and a member of the Maine American Legion. He worked for the railroad, the electric company, Endicott Johnson Corp and Cyganovich and Andrews. He was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter, trapper, gardener and beekeeper. He loved growing apple and peach trees. He had the bluest eyes, a kind heart and enjoyed being with family and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 am at the Most Holy Rosary Church, Route 26, Maine, NY prior to the 10 am Funeral Mass. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Owego, NY immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Broome County Council of Churches Ramp It Up Program, 3 Otseningo Street, Binghamton, NY 13903.
