Florence R. Drotar passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 at home with her loving husband, son and granddaughter by her side. John S. Drotar, Sr. passed away on December 18, 2025 at Mercy House in Endicott with his son by his side to be with his loving wife of 65 years.
They were predeceased by their son, John S. Drotar, Jr.; Florence’s parents, Michael, Sr. and Lillian (Fusco) Ambrose, John’s parents Joseph and Josephine (Bolebruch) Drotar, her brother and sister-in-law, Michael, Jr. and Rose Marie Ambrose; their niece, Erica Hoffman; and her brother, Frank Ambrose; and John’s good friend Deacon George C. Phillips, Jr.
John and Florence are survived by their son, Joseph Drotar; their granddaughter, Jovan (Kevin) Davis and great grandchildren, Ryan and Madison; John’s sister Barbara (Thomas) Snape and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Florence graduated from Union Endicott High School. She retired from IBM Owego and Lourdes Hospital. She enjoyed spending time at the family cottage, playing tennis, pickleball, and golf with her Saturday ladies’ group at Seneca Falls Country Cluband Wednesday’s women’s league at Enjoie. She also enjoyed her trips to Tioga Downs with her friend, Nancy Pozzi.
John Graduated from Binghamton Central High School where he played football. He retired from IBM Endicott. He was a proud veteran who served in the US Army stationed in Korea.
He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage, golf, hunting, fishing, wild mushroom picking, woodworking and especially snow skiing until he was 88 years old. He was a true gentleman!
John and Florence were both devoted parishioners of the Church of the Holy family.
The family would like to thank their cousin Tony and Maria Fusco; Dolly Escovar, Nancy Pozzi, Kevin and Diana Kresge, Deacon Jim Tokos and Father Clarence for all their support and assistance. The family would also like to thank the caring staff at Mercy House of the Southern Tier, Guthrie Lourdes Hematology Oncology, Infusion and Urology Departments.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am, Tuesday, December 30, at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church, Tuesday, December 30 from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, or the Lourdes Hospital Foundation as a lasting tribute.
