John J. (“Jack”) McGuinness, 90, passed away on October 3, 2016 at Mercy House of the Southern Tier. He is predeceased by his wife, Angela (Musa), his parents, Robert E. and Dorothea, his siblings, Robert, Richard, and Betty Ann. He is survived by his three sons, Timothy (Rebecca), Thomas, and Terrance (Sharon), his three cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Teagan, and Colleen, his sister, Irma Dodd, and several nieces and nephews. Jack honorably served in the US Army in Europe during World War II. He worked for the US Postal Service for 39 years and served as postmaster in Port Crane where he was affectionately known as “JJ.” He enjoyed bowling and won the Press Tournament in 1966 and bowled regularly at St. Cyril’s. Jack was a member of St. Anthony’s where he was a Eucharistic minister and van driver. He was a long time member of St. John’s Social Club with his buddy Bill Mihalko. He volunteered at the BC/Dick’s Open from its beginning through 2013. The family appreciates the compassionate care provided by Endwell Family Physicians, UHS, Lourdes Hospice, Family & Children’s Society, and Mercy House.
Family will receive friends at St. Anthony’s Church on Saturday, October 8 from 9-10 am followed by a Mass at 10 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Jack lived quietly but always in service to others.
