John (Jack) B. Piester age 76 of Endicott passed away November 10, 2017 surrounded by family. He is predeceased by parents Effie & David Piester of Hudson, NY, survived by wife Mary Ann Nixon Piester, sons John (Kate) and Michael (Amy), grandchildren Adam, Michael, Linnea, Dylan, Haley, and Chase, sister Sally (Lester) Perlee and many nephews and nieces. Jack graduated from Hudson High School where he played football and basketball. He attended Clarkson University and graduated from SUNY Cortland with a degree in Math Education. He was a member and president of Gamma Tau Sigma fraternity. He received his Master’s degree from SUNY Binghamton. Jack taught math in Greene, NY for a year and then Maine-Endwell for 35 years. He was a well-loved math teacher and coach of basketball and football. He eventually gave up coaching to attend his sons’ football, basketball, and track events. Jack was a big sports fan always rooting for his NY Giants, Mets, and Syracuse Orange. He was most happy with his family and friends, especially when camping, vacationing, or boating on the Finger Lakes. We’re fortunate to have many happy memories. We know he’s happy in Heaven with a martini in hand and a party every night. Thank you to Dr. Ahmed, Kathy McMullen, and the wonderful caring staff of Willow Point Nursing Home especially his favorite nurse Jessica Laurence.
