Jon V. Stickles, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Jon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and educator whose quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication touched the lives of all who knew him. For 54 wonderful years, he shared a loving marriage with his wife, Sharon (Pitchanau) Stickles. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and enduring companionship.

A graduate of LeMoyne College with a degree in chemistry, Jon devoted more than 40 years to the Chemistry Department at Binghamton University. Throughout his distinguished career, he was respected for his knowledge, professionalism, integrity, and steadfast commitment to his work. Through quiet leadership, patience, and a genuine willingness to help others, he earned the admiration of colleagues and students alike, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Outside of his career, Jon generously gave his time as a volunteer with the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad. He also enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, a craft that reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for preserving the past.

Jon is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; his daughter, Karen Morley, and her son, Tyler Groeber; his son, Kevin (Faith) Stickles, and their children, Samantha, Andrew, and Timothy. He is also lovingly remembered by his dear friends, the Lojpersberger family, whose enduring friendship brought him great joy throughout the years, and by the O'Boyle family, whose friendship, neighborly laughter, and steadfast support enriched his life.

Following his retirement, Jon enjoyed a simpler pace of life, spending time gardening, working on his computer, and sharing everyday moments with Sharon, family, and neighbors.

Jon will be remembered for his gentle nature, strong work ethic, quiet humility, and deep devotion to those he loved. He lived a life marked by integrity, kindness, and quiet generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew him. The memories he created and the example he set will be cherished always. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

Our family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many nurses, physicians, and staff at Wilson Regional Medical Center for their tireless dedication and compassionate care.
