Josephine J. Rano

February 18, 1928 — August 23, 2012

On August 23, 2012 Josephine J. Rano “Jo”, passed away at home after a valiant fight against cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Jo was predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Emilia Rano and is survived by her sisters Filomena Rano and Mary Petrolle; brother in law David F. Petrolle; her beloved niece Emily Foti and Emily’s husband Joseph Foti; her nephew David D. Petrolle and her great nieces Lucia Theresa and Maria Grace Foti, who brought her so much joy. Jo graduated from Union-Endicott High School and in 1953 was Endicott’s Community Ambassador to Spain. She was retired from New York Telephone Company (Verizon), a member of the Telephone Pioneers and was a volunteer at Willow Point Nursing Home. Jo had many wonderful friends who were very dear to her and her wonderful neighbor Karen, who was very generous and kind. Thank you to Father Jim and Sister Anesia, for their comforting visits. Also thank you to Lourdes at Home and Lourdes Hospice Program, for their loving and compassionate care. Jo was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott and was involved in many activities.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 10 am from St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Sunday from 4-7 pm. Flowers will be provided for by the family.
