Kathleen Leslie Downs Fenstemacher, 78, died at Elcor Nursing Home in Corning NY on February 13, 2026 after a long illness.
She was predeceased by her parents June and James Downs.
She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Freeman (Eric Freeman), and Caron Stafford; and her siblings – Susan Downs Kost (Michael Kost), Christopher Downs (Cornelia Downs), and Laura Downs (David Figura); and her grandchildren, Kathleen dearly loved her many grandchildren: Paul Bonham, Katelyn, Joshua, Matthew and Destiny Stafford plus Braden Hughes, Kelsey, Jacob and Abrahm Freeman. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Raelynn, Kailah and Octavian.
Kathleen was a member of the Church of the Holy Family and a devoted Catholic. She was a Registered Nurse and retired from the State of New York. Kathleen loved her cat named Kiara.
The family will receive friends at the Church of the Holy Family on Friday, April 24 from 10 to 11 am, with a funeral mass to follow at 11 am. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Broome County Humane Society, 167 Conklin Ave, Binghamton, NY 13903.
