Lettie Ripic, 85, of Endicott, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She is finally reunited with her loving husband, James Ripic, her beautiful daughter, Jennifer (Ripic) Samit, her parents, Irene and Harrison Vincent, and siblings Virginia Varano, Harrison Vincent Jr., Marcella Gaige, and Barbara Jones. She is survived by her sons, grandchildren, two sisters, Alice Minoia and Ellen Perella, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lettie was a loving mother to four children: one daughter, the late Jennifer Ripic, sons James (Jimmy), Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Beckie, and Jason Ripic. She was a wonderful grandmother, or as the kids called her, “Nana,” to 5 grandchildren: Alexis Ripic, Claudia Samit, Joshua Samit, Matthew Samit, and Gabby Samit, as well as bonus grandkids Evan and Logan O’Hara. She loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in activities and attended every award ceremony. All of her summers were spent watching the kids in her life swim in her pool and play outside. She loved to garden and took pride in her flowers out front of her house. She loved to paint ceramics and even taught classes out of her house, where she had a kiln. She also loved to go garage sale-ing. She was always seen with a cup of coffee nearby. She loved to share a meal with her lifelong friends Marylou, Carolyn, Angie, and Ginny, as well as her family.
Lettie was a lifelong bowler and very involved in the bowling community. She was on the Binghamton-Johnson City-Endicott WIBC board of directors for many years. She bowled with her husband, Jim, for many years. She loved to watch her son, Jeff, and her granddaughter, Lex, keeping every newspaper cutout of the scores week after week and often hung them on the fridge. She came to every match, tournament, and practice session she could from the time Jeff was a little boy, cheering them on no matter the score. Everyone at the bowling alley knew and loved her and she made many lifelong friends there.
It is very difficult to sum up such a beautiful life and a wonderful woman in just a few short paragraphs. Lettie was a bright light to everyone who knew her. She always knew exactly what to say to make you laugh. She remembered the littlest details about everyone, a testament to how big her heart was. She never forgot a birthday and always remembered to send cards. She was the most caring woman in the world, and she will be missed greatly.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Good Shepherd Fairview as well as the staff at UHS Wilson Hospital.
Family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St. on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026 from 5pm-7pm. A funeral service will be held at the Allen Memorial Home on Thursday, June 11th at 11am with a burial to follow at Riverhurst Cemetery.
