Louise T. Kozol, May 16, 1923 - September 1, 2016. On September 1, Louise left the “City of Man” (St. Augustine) to join her husband of 61 years, Walter in the true “City of God.” Louise is survived by her daughter Mary Louise, son Peter and sister-in-law Eleanor Kozol. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Her parents Alexander and Antoinette Ziemba were one of the first families to make Endwell/Endicott their home after leaving Poland. Her father was one of the founders of St. Casimir’s Church. Louise was an active member of the community which includes St. Casimir’s. She contributed to the building of the larger church. Louise was dedicated to the rosary society, and participated in many church events, always the one to volunteer her sewing, cooking or coordinating talents. This was while she worked at Endicott Johnson as well as The Prudential Insurance Company, supporting her husband as he built his insurance agency. She was continuously involved in the fund raising efforts for the Kopernik Observatory. Over the last several years Louise has resided in New York City with her daughter. They traveled extensively throughout the eastern U.S., discovering much of the heart and soul of our country. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Church on the upper west side. Louise was also an avid supporter of The Anderson School for gifted and talented students. Mary Lou and Peter would first like to honor Monsignor Thomas Leonard, a fellow Fordham alumni, who has been an integral part of our family. He always taught the importance of reflecting on the joy and hope of our faith, and was there to comfort our parents during their final days. We must also recognize Reverend Matthew Wieczorek who for many years was our leader in faith at St. Casimir’s Church. We would also like to recognize the staff of Calvary Hospital, the nurses/aides and Dr. Myra Divola. These professionals made the God-given decision to care for geriatric patients who were entering the final phase of their life. God bless them! In lieu of flowers please consider donating in Louise’s name to either Calvary Fund, 1740 Eastchester Rd., Bronx, N.Y. 10461, or Mercy House in Endicott, N.Y.
