Margaret Vatral Major, 88, of Johnson City, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Binghamton General Hospital after a prolonged health decline. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Michael Vatral; husband, Richard Major; brother, Michael Vatral, Jr.; sisters, Maria Bethje, Anna Poppe, and a nephew, Thomas Leskovich. Margaret is survived by her sister, Doris Leskovich and niece, Caroline Leskovich, Vestal, NY; nieces Karen (Kerry) Coffelt, Purcelville, VA, Susan Bethje, Little River, SC and nephews, Michael Vatral III, DDS and Mark Vatral, Angola, NY, James Poppe, Reston, VA, Robert and Alan Bethje, Binghamton, NY. Margaret was a member of St. Ambrose Church in Endicott, NY. She retired from CAE Link after 25 plus years of service. She spent her leisure time watching her favorite sports teams on tv, namely her life-long favorite the New York Yankees and was a die hard fan of the Buffalo Bills and Syracuse University basketball and football. After retiring from Link she loved spending part of the winter in Madiera Beach, FL with her sisters, Maria, Anna, Doris and special friend, Carol Leskovich-Fazio.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Monday 10:30 am at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal, NY. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Samaritan House, 11 Fayette Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
