Emblem
Mario Pio Silvestri of Endicott, NY, born on September 30, 1934, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on March 30, 2026. The only child of Italian immigrants, Joseph and Mary (Fiori) Silvestri, Mario was born in Frosinone, Italy where he spent his childhood on a farm and generally being the family wise guy. My father immigrated to the United States at 12 years old to become a very patriotic American Citizen.
Following High School, Mario served with honor in the United States Army as a Military Police officer in West Germany. Always distinctly proud of the picture showing his shoes, had the best shine. He returned to marry his loving wife of 60 years, Constance Dominick on February 4, 1961, during the blizzard of the century. Together, they owned and operated Marcon's Beauty Salon For decades.
Mario is predeceased by his wife, Constance (August 3rd, 2020), and his parents, Joseph and and Mary Silvestri.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Jo (husband John) Kilgallon and her two children, Colleen and Aidan; his son, Dr. Mario A. Silvestri (partner Angela Driscoll) and his two children Katherine (husband Thomas Atkins, son Teddy) and Anthony. Additionally, Daughter Melissa and fur babies Maisie & Oliver: his brother-in-law Louis Dominick(wife Margaret); first cousins Joanne and John Sarra, Alberta and Robert Gazda; and many special nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Mario enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, to a wonderful family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout much of his life, and could be found at the Sons of Italy playing an important card game. Later, he would learn to love golf and the BIG matches with his grandchildren at Newark Valley Golf Course (no matter what he got a 5 on the Hole). Many who crossed his path will remember his friendly nature; additionally, his love of life and good food was unparalleled (Only in America people eat like this!) I am certain my mom had dinner ready in Heaven, he always said she made the best sauce. Mario was a member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church his whole adult life. Family and friends will miss his social interactions and charming smile.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, 11 am, on Monday, May 18th, at St Anthony of Padua Church, 300 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Viewing will be at the church from 10 to 11 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers , expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to The Humane Society (Broome County Humane Society), located at 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903.
