Mary Ann Gatta, aged 91, a long-time resident of Plainview, LI and recently of Good Shepherd Village, Endwell, NY, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Village Skilled Nursing Unit, Endwell on Saturday, October 27, 2018 after an extended illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was predeceased by her darling husband, Michael Gatta, her loving son Michael Jr., her parents, Rose and Anthony Panzica; brother Lawrence Panzica; dear sisters and brother-in-law, Josephine and Frank Grimaldi (Long Branch, NJ) and Dolores Sorrentino (Old Bridge, NJ); mother and father-in-law, Victoria and Alfonso Gatta; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Angie and Anthony Bono, Rachel and Frank Maione, Lucy and Frank Fazio. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Michael Ricciardi (Binghamton, NY); her loving granddaughter, Victoria Rose Ricciardi (Nashua, NH); brother-in-law, Dominic Sorrentino (Old Bridge, NJ); nieces and nephews, Frank (Roberta) Grimaldi (Longmont, CO), Pat (Fran) Grimaldi (Eatontown, NJ), Anne Marie (Sal) Massaro (Oceanport, NJ), Maria (Michael) Higgins (Old Bridge, NJ), Joseph Sorrentino (Old Bridge, NJ), Denise (Al) Faulborn (Old Bridge, NJ), Karen (Tim) Langan (Old Bridge, NJ); Lena (Paul) Budveit (Manalawan, NJ), Mike (Rita) Bono (Lewes, DE), Vicky (Larry) Book (E. Petersburg, PA), Saverio (Catherine) Maione (New Hampton, NY), Alfonso (Marianne) Maione (Mint Hill, NC), Connie (John) Pasqueralli (Levittown, NY), Frank Fazio Jr. (Long Beach, CA), Geraldine (Paul) Wawrezynski (West Garden Grove, CA), and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends, including Millie Alberti (Wantaugh, NY) and Josie Capone (Ridge, NY). Married 65 years to her loving husband Michael, whom she adored, and member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainview, NY, Mary enjoyed her time with Michael, traveling and catching up with friends at the Blue Angel Diner in Plainview. She reluctantly moved from her beloved Long Island to Endwell in 2014 due to her failing health, finding a loving and welcoming environment at Good Shepherd Village. Always with a sense of humor, and love of music and dancing, she loved her family, extended family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Mary Lou Dimmick and Heidi Weeks Crocker. We would also like to thank Good Shepherd Village Skilled Nursing staff and Lourdes Hospice staff for their friendship and compassionate care. Funeral services will be held Friday 10 am from the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott. Deacon Thomas Harley will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday evening from 5-7 pm.
