Mary (Papastrat) Gianakouros, 90, of Binghamton, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband Constantine (Dino); parents Harry and Jenny; brothers George (Ethel) and Peter (Mary) Papastrat. She is survived by two sons Fred (Beth), Roanoke, VA and Harry (Katy), Binghamton; a daughter Anne (John) Schiro, Cornwall, NY; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter and several nieces; nephews and cousins. She was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Vestal, where she was a life member of the choir and Ladies Philoptochos (Philanthropic) Society. Mary was the first female Radio/TV producer for WNBF and was given an award through the Bundy Museum.
Funeral Services will be held Monday 9:30 am from the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, Vestal. Burial will be in Saint Nektarios Greek Orthodox Monastery, Roscoe, NY. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Sunday from 5-8 pm, with a Trisagion Service at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 4121 O’Hara Drive, Vestal, NY 13850 or Saint Nektarios Greek Orthodox Monastery, 100 Anawanda Lake Road, Roscoe, NY 12776.
