Also sisters Kathy (Lee) Shannon and Susan (Timothy) Clapham,
Numerous brother and sister in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and those she made feel a part of her family adored her as well.
Born on December 6, 1954 in Binghamton NY, Betsy is predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Annabelle (Lisick) Tyler, her devoted husband James G Murray, and children Jennifer and Joseph, whose young lives were brief but bright.
Betsy will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, nana, and a dear friend to so many. A devout woman of faith her entire life, Betsy was a constant example of grace, beauty and boundless love for all. On a constant search for good, the only person Betsy never thought of was herself. She proved an intrinsically gifted mother from a young age and dedicated so much life to family.
She brought these gifts of self to her work, providing a warm presence and familiar face at Endwell Family Physicians for more than 15 years.
Her spare time, how little it was, she filled with golfing, reading, crossword puzzles, and enjoying the sun on her skin.
Betsy was proud to tell anyone that she could about her seven children, and eventually her fifteen grandchildren. In this way she also managed to bring a smile to whoever crossed her path with her attentiveness and heart — be they a stranger, a neighbor, the mailman, or a person in need.
“God is Good”, her favorite saying, is what she showed the world around her.
Even up to her last days, if you asked her if she needed anything, she would simply invoke her own mother Annabelle: “just a smile and a kind word.”
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 207 Hayes Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Friday from 4-6 pm.
In lieu of flowers or donations, expressions of sympathy and love may be made to St. Joseph’s Church. Or, simply offer someone in need a smile and a kind word. LYM.
