Mary C. (Devaney) Taborne, 81, of Vestal passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, June 1, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Theresa Devaney; a brother, Joseph and a son in law, Joseph Hooker. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Michael Taborne, Vestal; one daughter, Peggy Hooker, Apalachin; one son, Michael Taborne, Vestal; four grandchildren, Ryan and Julie Hooker and Brian and Kyle Taborne; one daughter in law, Donna Taborne; two sisters and brothers in law, Bridget and Donald Slish, Vandling, PA. and Anne Marie and Doug Sampson, Carbondale, PA.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. Mary was a retired employee of the Vestal Nursing Center, a member of the Vestal Senior Center and a past member of the Vestal Community Choir. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s various activities and her road trips with her good friends Betty and Barb. Mary always enjoyed a good glass of Merlot. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 9:30 am from St. Rose of Lima Parish, Carbondale, PA. Burial will be in Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Thursday from 5-7 pm and at Brennan and Brennan Funeral Home, 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, PA, Friday evening from 5-7 pm.
