Maryanne Elizabeth Samsel, of Endwell, New York, passed away on October 13, 2026, at Good Shepherd Village at Endwell, surrounded by the memories of a life filled with family, travel, friendship, and joy.
Maryanne was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Natalie Zarzycki; her sister-in-law, June Zarzycki; and newborn twins John and Jill.
She is survived by her four children, James (Dawn) Samsel, Stephen (Shannon) Samsel, Amy (Rony) Awaida, and Chris (Christine) Samsel; her 14 beloved grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; her brother, Ronald Zarzycki; as well as several treasured nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Binghamton University, Maryanne dedicated her professional career to helping others through her work as a Social Services Investigator with the Broome County Department of Social Services. She was also a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church.
Maryanne had a genuine joy for life and a wonderful sense of adventure. She loved traveling the world and had the opportunity to visit countries throughout Europe, including France, Spain, and Germany, as well as destinations in Asia and Africa. Of all the places she traveled, the Bahamas held a particularly special place in her heart.
An avid tennis fan, Maryanne especially enjoyed attending the US Open. She also appreciated the finer things in life. She loved an elegant dinner, dressing up for an occasion, and spending time at the Binghamton Country Club and the Binghamton Club. Those who knew her will remember that she enjoyed looking her best, complete with her makeup and, of course, always a touch of lipstick.
But above all else, Maryanne treasured time with her family. Whether she was cooking, dancing, traveling, sharing a meal, or meeting someone new, she brought an enthusiasm for life with her. She enjoyed people, conversation, new experiences, and the simple pleasure of being together with those she loved.
Maryanne lived with style, curiosity, and an adventurous spirit. Her greatest legacy, however, will be the family she loved and the memories they created together. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, extended family, and all those fortunate enough to know her will carry those memories forward.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Funeral Services for Maryanne will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 12pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home on Saturday from 11am until Service time at 12pm.
