After a long battle with cancer, Michael Ketchoyian passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 8, 2026, at Mercy House. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Rose Ketchoyian and in-laws, John and Joan Hayes. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ketchoyian, his children, Eileen and Steven Jacob, John Ketchoyian and Andrea Lane, and his grandchildren, Theo and Alice Jacob. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul and Karen Ketchoyian, Edward and Sonia Ketchoyian, brothers and sisters-in-law, Nancy and Chris Davies, Joe and Mary Hayes, Dan and Lori Hayes, Karen and Gary Marshall, Eileen and Mike Cunningham, Kevin and Cindy Emmons, Jim and Terry Hayes, Ann and Tony Ryan, and Mark and Frances Emmons; also by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends, all of whom he loved dearly. He was a lifelong member of Saint Gregory Armenian Church in Binghamton, and a member of Endicott Elks 1977. He worked at IBM Endicott for over 25 years, as well as Cadence Design Systems, SGS Cybermetrix, and TRP Laboratories.
A walking sports encyclopedia, he was an avid Giants, Knicks, and Red Sox fan. His years of playing city league softball brought so many great stories he enjoyed reliving with his friends and family. Michael’s dry sense of humor and calm, constant support are just some of the reasons his friends and family loved spending time with him. He had a great head of hair, loved all types of food, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Michael’s family would like to thank Dr. Paul Mathew, Nurse Donna, and the entire Tufts Medical Center team for the unwavering care and compassion they provided.
A private service will be held by the family.
In celebration of his life, donations may be made to Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church (12 Corbett Ave, Binghamton), Mercy House of the Southern Tier (212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott), or the Broome County Humane Society (167 Conklin Ave, Binghamton).
