Michael Putano, born in the late summer of 1953, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family he cherished above all else. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Michael lived a life defined by generosity, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife and childhood sweetheart, Deborah, with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership and deep affection. He leaves behind his loving children, Heatherlee and Michael Jr., who carry forward his strength, compassion, and the lessons he instilled in them. Michael’s heart found new joy in his precious granddaughter, Mia Nicole Putano, who brought light and laughter into his later years.
Michael is also survived by his brothers Peter (Shannon) and Rick (Ginny); his sisters Julie, Rita (Tim), Patti, and Diane (Nick); his special nephew Jason; and many other nieces and nephews who adored him and benefited from his guidance, humor, and warmth.
A lifelong musician, Michael had a deep passion for music—especially the drums. From his earliest days, rhythm lived in his hands and in his heart. He shared this gift generously, teaching others to play and inspiring countless students to discover their own love of music. His talent was matched only by his patience and joy in seeing others grow.
Michael was known as the “answer man” to his family, coworkers, and anyone who needed help. Whether it was a question, a problem, or a project, he approached everything with curiosity, ingenuity, and a willingness to lend a hand. His love of electronics and technology led him to create many of his own inventions—innovations he was proud of and that helped support his family. His creativity was boundless, and his generosity in sharing it was one of his defining traits.
He had a special love for dogs and shared a deep bond with his loyal companion, Remy, later in life. Their connection brought him comfort, joy, and companionship.
Above all, Michael’s greatest accomplishment was the family he built, nurtured, and protected with his whole heart. He led with love, lived with purpose, and gave endlessly. His legacy is felt through his children, his granddaughter, and the generations who will follow with his spirit in their hearts.
Michael carried a strong and steady connection to God throughout his life. He lived with faith, humility, and gratitude, always striving to reflect the image of God in the way he treated others.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. His rhythm lives on—in the music he played, the lives he touched, and the family who will carry his love forward. May his memory be a blessing, and may his spirit rest in eternal peace.
The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Tuesday, May 26 from 11 am - 1 pm. Burial will be in Maine Cemetery.
