Patricia “Mimi” Ann Spaar, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ida McLaughlin, her brother Ronald, and her beloved husband Earle Spaar. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Don and Pat Spaar, Cindy and Larry Harris, and Ron and Michelle Spaar; four grandchildren, Ashley (Josh), Lauren (Hubert), Renee (Cody), and Jason; and two great-grandchildren, Mayson and Jase.
Patricia was born in Oswego, New York. After graduating high school, she became a secretary at Oswego College, where she met her husband, Earle. In 1962 Pat and Earle moved to Endicott, NY, where they built their first and ultimately forever home. While raising her children, she became actively involved in the PTA while also volunteering at her children’s elementary school for numerous events. She cherished the friendships made through the PTA and was honored with receiving the New York State Lifetime Founders Day Achievement Award. She supported her children by attending all their sporting events and was their biggest fan. She later worked in the main office at Union-Endicott High School. Pat entered the private sector and created PAES Industrial with her husband. Pat and Earle ran the business for 15 years, supporting local businesses as representatives of W.W. Grainger. Pat and her husband sought a new challenge when they purchased a business in the medical industry, and successfully ran Nellerk Contact Lens Cases for more than 40 years.
Pat was a well-respected member of the community and loved helping people. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s church and volunteered throughout the years at various annual events. Her passions included traveling, gardening, mowing the lawn, and spending time with her friends. Later in life, she enjoyed watching golf, Tom Brady, and most importantly her beloved NY Yankees… while sipping on a Diet Coke.
Her greatest joy was her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a great role model and inspiration to them all. Mimi had a larger-than-life personality, and her infectious smile will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 8th at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 207 Hayes Ave, Endicott. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends Monday at Church from 9 AM until Mass time at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760, a cause she supported for many years.
