Paul E. Franks

Paul died peacefully at home with his family after a long illness. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul and Mary Franks; his first wife, Dolores Drost Franks and their son Richard; sister Dolores Krey and brother Raymond Franks. Paul is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois Wilson Franks and their children, Andrew Franks (wife Lesa) and Gail Hidarjan (husband Ali); grandchildren, Aaron and Amy Franks; brother Donald Franks (wife Dorothy); brother-in-law Philip Krey; Richard’s wife, Belinda Knochel and her children, Matthew and Anna; and many nieces and nephews. Paul was born in East McKeesport, PA. After graduating from Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh, Paul served in the United States Air Force for six years, attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He then had a distinguished career with IBM, during which he worked on projects that varied from manned and unmanned space travel to the first commercial check reading computer recognition programs. Paul also volunteered for 25 years with the Town of Vestal, serving on the town’s Conservation Committee and Planning Board. Paul was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, many trips to the East McKeesport hunting camp in Pennsylvania for deer season, and spending time at his Adirondack property to enjoy nature. His good humor, wit and wisdom will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 11 am until service time at 1 pm.
