Peter R. Tierno of Endicott, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Vito and Angelina Tierno, sisters, Josephine Tierno and Nicolena (Tedeschi), brothers, Anthony and Rocco, father and mother-in-law, David and Gertrude Johns, brother and sister- in-law, George and Lois Williams, sister-in-law Ann Tierno. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betsy Tierno, daughters Michele (Matthew) Pasquale and Lisa (Michael) Testani. The true lights of his life were his five grandchildren, Amanda and Luciano Pasquale and Michael, Matthew and Danielle Testani, his sister, Anna Tierno, nieces, Angela (Michael) Sherwood and Joanna (John ) Allen, Godchild, Nicholas Allen and last but not least he loved his grand dogs, Quinton, Sam, Chase and Ginger. Peter was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School and the University of Scranton with a degree in Sociology. He worked for many years with lifelong friend, Ken Wilson, at Ken Wilson Chevrolet. He retired from Matthews Chevrolet in 2016. He enjoyed walking, vacationing at the NJ shore with his whole family, daily breakfast at his sister Anna’s house with his very special niece who was more like a daughter, Joanna. You could always find him at his grandchildren’s sporting events and at Cortese for Thursday night dinner sitting in his “special” booth. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Lourdes Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Peter and also to a special nurse on Seton 1 cardiac, “MOE”, for the care and compassion he showed to Peter during his stay there. Peter was a man whose faith and belief in God were very strong and he will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.

Funeral Services will be held Monday 8:45 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton at 9:30 am. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Sunday afternoon from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be sent in Peter’s name to Seton Catholic High School, Athletics Department.
