Rita A. Konecky

Rita Ann Konecky (Gallagher, Miller) of Endwell passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, February 3rd surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 11 month battle with pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard in 1997, Raleigh, NC; her parents, James and Kathleen Gallagher; and by her sister, Kathleen Alexander, brother- in- law, Lenny and nephew” SSgt Mark Alexander. Rita is survived by her son John and his father Charlie and Wendy Miller, NC, who are very dear and special friends and were there for her in her time of need; her brother, Jim and Carol Gallagher, Johnson City; niece, Kaitlin and nephew, Colin; her sister, Mary Gallagher, Vestal; her stepson Kevin and Shelly Konecky and their children, Josiah and Rebekka of CA; stepdaughters, Kim and her children, Elliott, Nicholas; Karen and her children, Alex, Maxwell and Mackenzie; their mother Kathy and Rick Palmer all of FL; also a brother-in-law, Jack Risko and his children of Endwell; very dear and special friends, Gloria Stilloe, Endicott; Nancy Reid, NC; Sue and Don Wargo, AZ, and Renee Gaylord, Newark Valley. She is also survived by cousins, Mary Ellen and LewMauro, Binghamton; Alice and Joe Bragaglia, Endicott; and Jim Reif, Endicott; The family wishes to thank Dr. Readling and the staff of Broome Oncology, Dr. Richard Baron and Dr.Michael McCarville, for their compassionate care. They would also like to thank Stafkings Healthcare and Lourdes Hospice for their sensitive handling of Rita during her last days, keeping her comfortable and pain free.Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 12 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with the Reverend father Corey Van Kuren officiating. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 10 am until the time of the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, at the convenience of the family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Rita may be made to Helping Hands of Broome County, Inc., 30 Harrison Street, Wilson Square Suite 102, Johnson City, NY 13790; or to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850. Rita will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her but we will be comforted knowing that she is at peace; no more pain and suffering, and that she can now breathe with healthy lungs
