Robert L. Black, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, at Willow Point Nursing Nursing Home after a period of declining health. Robert (Bob) is predeceased by his loving wife, Sharon S. Black of 57 years (2019), parents Ralph and Marlea Black, biological Mother, Myrtle Black, and Stepsister Joan Bartlett (Richard). Bob is survived by his devoted daughter, Gayle Yvonne Barton, Son-in-Law Frank Allen Barton, who was always there when needed, and his cherished Grandson Cole Robert Barton (Paige Barton), whom he was so incredibly proud of and shared his passion for target shooting. Bob is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including one very special niece Pam Shiel, who called him almost daily for 7 years to share her love. These calls were so appreciated by Bob and his family.
Bob was employed for 12 years for Botnick Chevrolet in the Parts Dept, where he met his beloved wife, Sharon. Bob went on to work at the Broome County Department of Public Works, retiring with 22 years of service in 1991.
Bob was a member of the Binghamton Gun Club and enjoyed many years of trap and skeet shooting there. He won several trophies for his target shooting and was an avid gun collector. Bob was also a devoted NASCAR and Yankees fan for many years.
Bob's family would also like to thank Willow Point Nursing Home staff on South 1, especially Pat, Sayre, Amanda, Patty, and Sheri for taking such good care of Bob the last 14 months.
Private graveside services will be provided at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Broome County Humane Society.
