Robert Ernest Picciano, Sr., (Bob), 94, of Endicott passed away peacefully at Willow Point Nursing Home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. He was 17 days shy of his 95th birthday. The family wishes to thank the staff of Willow Point Nursing Home for their kind and loving care over the last three years.
Sharing 60 years of marriage, Bob joins the love of his life Helen (Unkie) and their son Robert Picciano, Jr., along with the heavenly Picciano and Pinkey families and many close friends.
Bob is survived by his children and their families. Kathleen Picciano (Sasina), Joseph, John (Michaela), Patricia Fiala and Kenneth (LuAnn). Grandchildren Darren (Allison), Ryan (Amy), Alexander (Emily), Evan, Michael (Jennifer), Daniel, Lindsey Fiala (Nicholous Lagabed), Adam, Justine (Michael Ward). Great Grandchildren, Christian, Sophia, Grace, Hayden, Macelyn, Cecily, Shayla, Amelia, Wyatt, Camden, Maeve, Brennan and Finley. Close friends for years, Donna Manning, the Roma and Valletta families.
A lifelong resident of Endicott, Bob graduated from Union-Endicott High School in June,1949. He attended the first class of Harpur College in 1950 and 1951. He played baseball and basketball at both schools.
From 1956-2006, Bob built a fifty-year plus career as a salesman for MetLife, achieving the role of Branch Manager. Additionally, he was a very active member of the Endicott community with service on many boards including the Boys and Girls Club, UE Board of Education, Alzheimer’s Association, Endicott Little League (President), Post 82 Legion Baseball Team (Manager). He spent years coaching the basketball teams for St. Ambrose and Our Lady of Good Counsel.
Dad/Grandpa had such love for all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a passionate fan of horse racing and all sports. He cheered on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Go Irish!) and the New York Giants during football season. Beyond football, he rooted for the New York Yankees, Saint Bonaventure Bonnies, New York Rangers and SUNY Broome Hornets.
A Burial Mass will be held 11 am, Friday, January 2, 2026, at Our Lady Good Counsel, 701 W. Main St, Endicott. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at church, Friday, January 2 beginning at 10 am until Mass time at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Willow Point or the Alzheimer’s Association in Bob’s memory.
