Robert P. Purtell

Robert Purtell, 60, of Little Meadows, PA, passed away Thursday morning, March 14, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital.He was pre deceased by his parents Francis and Margaret Purtell, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Earl and Ruth Quackenbush, and several aunts and uncles.He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Nora Purtell, a daughter Amee (Kevin) Howe, and a son John (Jennifer) Purtell, four grandchildren who were the apple of his eye Nicholas, Emelia, Ella, and Lucy.Bob was also survived by two sisters Mary Lou (William) Martin, Marlene (James) Homan, and two brothers Thomas (Sally) Purtell, and Gerald (Karen) Purtell, as well as several nieces, nephews, special friends and beloved brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws. Bob was a devout member of the Catholic Church who enjoyed the celebration of the mass at many different parishes.He was employed with the Broome Developmental Center for several years, and was the PEF Division 197 leader and served as Executive Board Member.Bob loved the outdoors, he was an avid golfer, loved spending time with his grandkids, and helping others. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral Services will be held Monday 10 am from the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, Friendsville, PA at 11 am.Burial will be in St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery, Little Meadows, PA.The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, Sunday from 2-5 pm.In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Little Meadows Fire Department, PO Box 345, or the Little Meadows Rescue Squad, PO Box 329, Little Meadows, PA 18830.
