Robert Sinicki

d. October 8, 2016

Robert A. Sinicki, 79, of Endwell, ended his earthly journey and entered one of the Lord’s lovely dwelling places on Saturday, October 8, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary Sinicki, and by his brother, Richard Sinicki. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Judy Potts Sinicki, of Endwell; son Michael and Lori Sinicki of Endwell; daughters Mary Kay and Brian Holthus of Las Vegas, NV, Laurie and Edward Burgess of Las Vegas, NV, and Jessica (Deckard) and Timothy Mann of Niles, MI; grandchildren Maxwell, Jacob, and Hailey Sinicki, Michael John, Kennedy, and Barrett Holthus, and Nathaniel Burgess. He is also survived by sisters Rosine Renken of Freeport, NY and Maureen Sinicki of Tucson, AZ; nephews Robert and Mary Ann Renken, Bruce and Lauren Renken ; nieces Cheryl Dorfman , Debra and Maurizio Rufo, and Leane Sinicki; many cousins; and by aunt Kay Macko of Binghamton, NY. Of Polish and Rusyn heritage, Bob was raised in Binghamton, NY. A graduate of Broome Community College, Bob was a retired analytical chemist/advisory engineer for IBM Corp, Endicott, for whom he worked for 38 years; he held several patents. Bob was a man of integrity and humility who was fiercely independent, hard-working, kind, and had a dry sense of humor. He considered it an honor to care for his family; nothing concerned him more than their welfare and happiness. He listened carefully, spoke directly, and valued differing opinions. Intellectually curious, he loved research and always looked for practical, workable solutions to any problem. A great supporter of education, he believed we’d be better off if we all knew more science, math, and US history. His hobbies were photography, gardening and landscaping, technology, making his wife happy, and Tioga Downs. He was known in the family for being a good dancer and for making wonderful kolachki at Christmas. He loved sports: in earlier years, he played many and was a life-long Yankee and Giants fan. He attended literally every game his grandchildren played from T-ball to Little League to high school basketball and football through college sports. Referees recognized his voice from the sidelines. He also enjoyed music and was proud of his grandchildren’s talents in music and dance. He was a “no muss-no fuss” kind of guy who faced his recent health challenges with courage and concern for his family. The family expresses sincere thanks to the medical, nursing, and patient care staff of UHS Wilson Medical Center (especially Dr. Michail Vitellas, Dr. Varun Reddy, and those who called themselves “Bob’s posse”), Transitional Care Unit at Binghamton General Hospital, and Ideal Senior Living Center for the fine care and compassion Bob received during his last three months of life. We also thank Dr. Joseph Readling and the staff at Broome Oncology. Bob loved his life and the people he shared it with. With them, he spent his last months valiantly “raging against the dying of the light.”

Funeral Services will be held Saturday 11 am at Northminster Presbyterian Church, corner of Farm to Market and Hooper Roads, Endwell. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Friday from 4-7 pm. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Maine-Endwell Sports Boosters, 750 Farm to Market Road, Endwell, NY, 13760 c/o Athletics.
